The Complete Guide to Google Ads

Google Ads – Did you know, people perform more than 63,000 searches per second on any given day, and the majority of the Search Engine Result Pages (SERP) include Google Ads. We generally see a Google ad every time on Google search engine, don’t we?

Today, let’s talk about what Google ads are, how they work, and everything about it. So let’s not waste any more time and get started!

What are Google Ads?

#Google offers a paid service of advertising to you. Advertising can be done for any product, service, idea, or business. When we search for something on Google, ads related to that search appear, with the use of AdWords. 

Also, the advertisements we see on different websites are through the Display Network.

These ads help your business to get

  •  new customers, 
  • increase sales, and 
  • maximize profit. 

This is done through search ads, display network ads, and YouTube ads.

When we search for something on Google, two types of results are shown: Organic Results and Sponsored Results. Organic results are the results shown by the SERP on its own because of the quality of the matter like relevant information and the use of SEO and Sponsored results are paid for. The Sponsored Results are the Google ads; they are denoted with a Green ‘Ad’ Label.

#Google also offers Display Ads, appearing on the Google Display Network. In case of AdSense, the ads appear in the selected areas on a site.

How Do These Google Ads Work?

Your website’s ranking will increase in two ways, either organically, by creating #qualitycontent or by using Google ads. Now, let’s discuss how these ads work!

  •  Firstly, you select some keywords relating to your business, that a user might use while searching on Google and create an ad that you want to appear on the SERP, using those keywords.
  • There are going to be some of your competitors, who might want the same keywords as you. So you’ll have to bid an auction for them.
  •  The more you pay for a click, the more probable it is for your ad to appear in the SERP.
  • Nonetheless, how high your advertisement appears depends on the ‘Ad Rank’.

Now, what is an ‘Ad Rank’? 

It is the algorithm Google uses to determine the ranks for your ads.

  • There are many other factors affecting the position of your Google Ad like :
  • Quality of your ad (keywords),
  • Ad Rank Threshold (mark your ad needs to meet, to make itself worthy of publishing),
  • Search context,
  • Other ads,
  • Ad extensions and formats and many more.

Are Google Ads Safe? Are they Effective? Are they Worth?

People have different opinions on different things and it is important to have your own view on these things. #GoogleAds can be said to be both safe and unsafe by its users.

Let’s discuss some of the pros of Google Ads:

 Works faster than SEO: It work faster than SEO because they are paid for. Both are used to attract SERP traffic, but an efficient Google Ad campaign works more effectively than SEO.

 Increase Brand Awareness: It increases web traffic on your site as well as promotes your brand and thus, increases awareness about your business and brand.

Measures Your Performance Consistently: It is very difficult to measure your performance by using traditional ad mediums. Google Ads keeps a check on the number of visitors on your website from its help. 

A coin has two sides, so now let’s find some of the cons on Google Ads:

 You Pay for Clicks: You have to pay Google whenever someone clicks on your ads. Earlier the rates were much lesser and reasonable but now startups and small businesses have to pay $5 or more for a click.

Harder to Compete with Big Companies: Small companies and businesses find it hard to keep up with large scale businesses since they have the money to advertise themselves better but not everyone does.

 Limited Characters:  It gives you a restricted area to work with. Here you have to come up with an innovative headline using keywords within just 25 characters. The URL and the descriptive lines have a word limit of 35 words each, which many people find difficult to stick with.
